We all know what the Internet is like when you give everybody the ability to anonymously say whatever they want. It should come as no shock the things that people are ready to say over this platform and all it does is make people upset and angry.

This is made so that one person can’t flag all of the comments, but it rather needs multiple people to flag the same comment in order for it to take effect (being sent into moderation).

So, no, this is not considered censorship but more of a quality of life type of plugin that creates a better user experience and does not, in turn, make you have less traffic when implemented.

It also makes the users more engaged with your company and site by providing them with the opportunity to make the site more friendly and less as if it were swarmed by little daemons that are on an insulting spree.

A word of caution!

Do not succumb to the temptation to start just simply removing all the comments that have been flagged as inappropriate right of the bat because chances are that some of these have been wrongly flagged or are more of a personal “vendetta” that users are doing on the site, or if someone was not understood correctly and has been unjustly flagged. So, keep an eye out for these things!

How does it work?

It is simple enough, really. Just simply download (install) the plugin to your WordPress website, and after that go to the “Plugins” page and activate Zeno Report Comments. Once you do that, you should be able to find “Allow comment flagging” under Settings > Discussion page, and then simply activate the flag and choose your threshold number. That’s about it!
