Being a WordPress developer at this day and age can be a very stressful job and occupation. That is why everybody (including myself) is on the lookout to make our lives a bit easier by installing handy dandy plugins for our site.

So, what does every site need exactly?

The obvious ones are the “About Us” page, contacts, and so on. But, you also need a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section. This is crucial to every site you come upon because not only will it answer the frequently asked questions, but it will also engage your visitors, subscribers, and audience to further read about you and your site.

You can literally write whatever you want in this section, just don’t make it obvious that you are bragging about yourself too much. Also, make sure that you actually answer some of the questions your community asks you.

It could be a bit problematic and time-consuming to create your own custom FAQ section from scratch, all the while making it look good and responsive with a little bit of animation. (I mean, who doesn’t like a bit of animation?).

All you need to do is fill in the questions and answer them.

Well, you are in luck because there are a whole bunch of these plugins out there, but I have come upon this one by accident. The plugin is called FAQ Block, and it is the easiest and quickest to set up the FAQ of all of them. That is why I like it so much!

What is FAQ Block, and what can you do with it?

FAQ Block by Jordy Meow is a block for Gutenberg with which you can create a Frequently asked questions section on your WordPress site. It is really easy to use, and it is very lite on your site, so you don’t have to worry that it will strain your site and slow it down one bit.

FAQ Block

As the name implies, you can create FAQs with ease and no fuss at all, even if you have no WordPress experience from before.

What makes this plugin “pop”?

Well, it is really easy to use, and you can set up your frequently asked sections on the fly in no time at all. Plus, anybody can do it, so there is no need to teach or specialize someone for this job.

How do you install and use it?

Just like every other WordPress plugin, you first have to download and install it. After all of that is done, you can go ahead and go under your plugins section on your WordPress site and enable the plugin from there. You are now all set to use it!

So, you just add a block for each question you have. You can further customize the blocks using CSS so that it may better blend in with your theme that you are currently using.

FAQ

You can choose between two different block types. One is “meow/faq-block,” and the other is “meowapps/faq”. It all depends on the look that you want on your site, but you get the idea. Feel free to play around with it for a bit, and you will get the hang of it.

Costs, caveats, etc.

It is open-source software, and it is completely free for you to use and share with your friends and co-workers. There aren’t many issues with the plugin. It actually works quite well on my version of WordPress, but the creator has said that there is one minor issue with the plugin currently.

I will just simply quote him on this one: “I am not sure if it’s currently a bug in Gutenberg: this block requires input in the generated HTML, but for some reason, Gutenberg removes it from the DOM while saving. This issue only happens for author/editors, but not for admins (which is even weirder).”

It is also CSS only! So, for all of you JavaScript people out there, this might come as a downside. But, on the other side, it is quite easy to set the blocks up using CSS to make the blocks fit your theme style.

There really isn’t anything more to say about this plugin. So, my final thoughts will be short: It is lite, fast to set up and, the best of all, it’s completely free!
